The preliminary base is the basic folding for nearly every origami figure and it is not too difficult to fold.

Don't forget to retighten every fold with your fingernail!

The single steps of folding the preliminary base:

Step #1:
The first two foldings are quite easy. You only have to fold a horizontally and a vertically valley fold and turn the paper over afterwards.

Step #2
Do two more valley folds but diagonally and note, that the cornes are exactly on top of each other.

Step #3
Fold the upper and lower edges down (or do a horizontally or vertically mountain fold) and hold the paper in the air.

After you hold both outermost edges of the folding between your thumbs and forefingers push both edges together. The paper should interfold itself automatically.

Now turn the front edge to the left and the edge at the back to the right.


That's the preliminary base.
